Mar 20, 2009 · In California, fire alarm installers are limited to working on low voltage?.meaning under 100 volts. Even though we work on 120 VAC circuits all of the time (power to our panels, smoke/fire dampers, etc). In the electrical world, under 1000 volts being termed low voltage is still voltage that no fire alarm installer has any business being around.

It a residential dwelling" Keep in mind the NEC does not define high and low voltage. To a POCO, 120 is low voltage, to a fire alarm tech, 120 is high voltage.

Nov 12, 2015 · This is fine with me but the HVAC crew is running a 18-2 conductor to a junction box directly under the switch that controls the exhaust fan. They are claiming that as long as I junction the 18-2 into a 14-2 NM-B before it goes into my switch box then I don't have to separate the high and low voltage in the box. I have never heard of this.

Nov 3, 2011 · The way I read it if you have 240 V circuit then your max. applied voltage would be 120V to any conductor, therefore the LED must have insulation rated 120V minimum. I think you will find that the wires will have a 300V rating anyway.

Jun 30, 2020 · In this case I would look at pulling 18/2 tray cable in the conduit for the LV along with the line voltage THHN conductors. That's exactly what some of the luminary cable manufactures do with their MC. Type TC is 600V, can be run in raceway and is a separate listed cable. So no worries about running it next to line voltage.
