The New York Mets officially retired David Wright's number, and Wright's family had an emotional moment during the ceremony.

Wright, the Mets’ most recent captain and the only player in team history to have his number retired after spending his entire career with the club, expressed his gratitude throughout a speech that capped a half-hour ceremony on Saturday emceed by broadcaster Howie Rose.

I view this as just an incredible, organic relationship between me and my family, the city, the organization, the fan base," Wright said in a news conference before the ceremony.
