PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Law enforcement and first responders are on the scene of a crash in Panama City Beach. The crash appears to involve two motorcycles and a golf cart. The accident happened near the Sunnyside Grill on Front Beach Road.

The carts come in 2-seater, 4-seater, 6-seater and 8-seater options and are aimed for golf courses and luxury resorts, gated communities, airport transportation, corporate campuses and private estates.

One family south of Lafayette's city limits bought a used golf cart during the days of the COVID-19 quarantine as a way to get outside.

It's not just seniors who are at risk. Studies show young people are most likely to get hurt behind the wheel of a golf cart. People under the age of 18 are twice as likely to be injured than adults or senior citizens, according to The American Academy of Pediatrics.

CoxHealth has launched a golf cart shuttle program at its Springfield, MO campuses, making over 2,800 trips since May 19th, helping patients and visitors navigate the parking lot and get to their destinations.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by a golf cart that was charging at the time of ignition. Luckily, no one was hurt, according to the Captiva Island Fire District.
