Texas appears to have joined a growing list of prominent college football programs by dropping the annual spring game in favor of a restructured practice period

Texas will start spring football practice the week of March 17 but won’t have a spring game. Coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed the change during an interview with Kay Adams on the “Up and Adams” show. Sarkisian said it makes more sense to go to a more NFL-type approach and have the OTA style early and then more scrimmages later in the 15 days of spring practice that is allowed.
